XENIX 386GT asks for serial no/activation code twice:

1. After the 'making filesystems...' message
2. After the request to insert the N2 diskette

I am trying to install an old copy of SCO Xenix 386 but the docs are
confusing.
Would it be too much trouble for you to disclose the version number?
It's not like all Xenix incantations are identical.
You also might wanna disclose your hardware. That's because Xenix has
some rather severe hardware limitations that are often exceeded and
will cause problems. For example, it will only address 16MBytes of
RAM, 1GB of hard disk, no PCI, no USB, and no ATA-xx HD support.
After going through the N1 and N2 disks and setting up the
filesystem, the install asks me to Reboot but to leave the N1 disk in
the drive. Upon rebooting and pressing <CR> at the boot: prompt, I am
"Insert filesystem floppy and press <RETURN>"
Wrong. N1 is the boot floppy with the kernel. N2 contains the
utilities needed to prepare the hard disk. When it asks you to reboot
after setting up the filesystems and copying a few files, it does NOT
demand that you leave the N1 disk in place. It asks you to kindly
remove the disk. The installation will then boot from the hard disk
and demand the B1 disk. You can consider yourself finished with the
B1 disk as it will boot and run as is. However, if you want the usual
collection of programs and utilities that come with Xenix, run
"custom" and install X1 thru X4 disks. Also, don't forget the games
disk.
If I insert the N2 disk, it just takes me through the initial install
again. I AM STUCK IN A LOOP!
Read the screen. It says REMOVE the N1 disk.
Perhaps it is asking for another disk or perhaps I need better Docs.
What an I do to get this installed and get to the screen that asks for
the serial/activation?
I can't recall at what point during the installation it asks for the
serial number and unlocking code. I think it was just after the
reboot, but I'm not sure.

The install procedure should be viewed as being in "two parts" (my
terminology)

1. Part1 is the initial install from the N1 diskette, this part ends with a
request to type in the serial number/activation code. Once that is accepted,
you will be requested to remove the N1 diskette and reboot the system. You
will get a "Safe to Power Off" message.

2. Part2 follows the reboot and includes a 'cleaning' of the filesystems
created. You will next be prompted to insert the B1 diskette. Following that
you will be prompted about whether you want to:
(a) "Continue Installation" in which point you will be prompted to insert
the X1 - X4 diskettes, later you will be prompted to insert the N1 then the
N2 diskettes and then be prompted to re-type in the serial number/activation
code. The system will require a reboot and you then have a completed system.
(b) or to "Finish Installation" at which point you have a very basic system

did you divvy the disk beyond 1999999 in the initial install? Even if XENIX
can view the total disk size as beyond that, I would not advise going
beyond that number.
